Rob and Suzanne Kalmin are wonderful; they are very good at what they do and are a pleasure to work with. They both care tremendously about the quality of their work (and their crew's work) and I never once doubted if there was a small bump in the road that they wouldn't correct it. We had done a lot of research and read the horror stories of projects gone awry, crooked contractors, and poor quality work - none of this came into play with RJK. They are a reputable remodeling firm doing high quality work and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company or use them again.

The first project was completed to our utmost satisfaction. The carpentry work on the wall to wall cabinet was very professional. While there was a bump or two along the way, Rob, the owner, bent over backwards to make sure we were happy. He is a contractor like no other. Perhaps it's only fair when talking about this firm to first discuss all the others that wasted almost 3 years of my life. In total, I contacted about 18 firms. Some would show up, only to never call me back with a bid, a big waste of my time. Others decided the jobs weren't big enough so they inflated the price to a ridiculous level. Still there were others that came from recommendations from friends. They either never called me back or began to "up" the price as we got closer to signing a contract. Totally frustrated and exhausting all my leads for contractors. I logged on to Angie's List for the first time hoping against hope that the service might be able to help me. I found three firms I wanted to talk to- R.J.K was one of them. While all three came to my home, met with my husband and I and gave us drawings and submitted bids, I felt like Rob Kalmin was most in-tuned to our projects. He seemed to know exactly what we wanted and came up with some terrific ideas. I sensed he was excited about our projects, something that was lacking from all the other contractors we had dealt with. When someone is spending what my husband and I thought was a sizable amount of money, I wanted to see some enthusiasm in our projects. I can tell you Rob, Suzanne-- his wife, and the rest of the crew at RJK did not disappoint! I really don't even know where to begin because everything was done on such a high level. From the constant phone call and email communications with Christina and Dawn, to helping me with product selections and keeping within our budget with Suzanne, to providing me with valuable shopping guidelines when searching for cabinets, granite, backsplashes, flooring and fireplaces with Rob, to the workmanship provided by their plumbing and electrical crew and project managers Jason and Leroy, everything was A+++. Rob and Suzanne and their crew work tirelessly. I know because the employees never seem to go home. Working long hours and then in the office first thing the next day. It is a company that does everything the right way and has very high expectations of their work crew--something we appreciated. My husband and I were not surprised to learn that this company never advertises; their business comes from recommendations and repeat business. They have upgraded our home to a whole new level and have transformed two areas that were rarely used into sought after comfortable wonderful retreats!! The "oohs and aahs" we receive over and over when people enter our home is wonderful to hear and my husband keeps telling me "this isn't just a kitchen, it's a work of art!."

We met with and received estimates from several companies while planning our full kitchen remodel, but ultimately chose RJK due to their record of quality work, integrity, and overall expertise in kitchen remodels in the Northern VA area. Our initial meeting was with Rob, who impressed us with his expert knowledge of the remodeling business, our home, and his immediate vision for our kitchen. Next, we met with designers, Suzanne and Victoria, who immediately made us feel comfortable and spent time discussing our kitchen and showing us the spectacular results of their previous work. We were working with a tight timeline and Victoria guided us quickly through the next couple of weeks in making all of our selections and worked with us to develop the perfect design for our space. She listened to what we wanted and provided her expert opinions in order for us to develop perfect solutions for our kitchen! Before we knew it, work was underway and we were receiving nightly updates from our project manager. It is never fun to have your house under construction, but every evening when we returned home from work, the house was cleaned up and as tidy as possible. The workers were very respectful of us, our schedules, our home, and even our two dogs that barked at them every morning! The few bumps that we encountered along the road were addressed and/or corrected in a timely fashion with little or no impact to the overall cost and schedule. Rob, Suzanne, Victoria, our project manager, CJ, and the subcontractors were a pleasure to work with. RJK took on a HUGE job (see pictures) and delivered the finest quality result you can find. We have an old home that will require many future upgrades and RJK will certainly be at the top of our list to call!

RJK impressed us with their desire to do the work and their bid was competitive, falling in the middle of three bids. From there the experience only got better. Suzanne and Rob helped to design the bathrooms and helped us select products, made great suggestions on things to do and things NOT to do. They did a great job of anticipating what we wanted and understood our budget. Their entire team was outstanding and their foreman was exceptionally bright and talented - terrific to work with. All of them really respected our home and kept it amazingly clean. During the process we knew exactly what was going on and at the end we had two new bathrooms that just blew us away and an experience like you see on the TV shows. The whole thing came in on budget and perhaps even more amazingly on time. We can’t imagine doing another project like this and not using our new friends at RJK.

I am unbelievably amazed and excited about my new kitchen! I could not have imagined that it would turn out so beautifully. Suzanne Kalmin of RJK Construction, Inc. designed my kitchen. Before we selected a contractor or even knew what we were going to do, Mrs. Kalmin took our ideas and the current styles in our home and turned them into my dream kitchen! She helped my husband and I evaluate and reevaluate the layout and selection of our cabinetry, appliances and lighting. The design of our back-splash was perfect to complement our color sink choice.
