This cramped outdated Arlington Kitchen needed more space with an improved functional flow. Therefore, knocking out a wall to add space to the kitchen; opens the room up to an adjacent dining area, while providing a two-seater breakfast bar. The small dark kitchen was reconfigured to accommodate the homeowners need for maximum storage and open counter space that allows for extensive prep and cooking.
Project Results
This transitional kitchen combines White Paint New River Wellington cabinetry with the simplicity of subway-tile-covered walls, with understated minimal accessories. Stainless choices, Maxim Chandelier and bold painted walls are more marriages between contemporary and traditional that define this design approach. The rich, dark dining room table and chairs add a punch of color without taking away from the overall look. Mix different finishes to create interest and texture in the kitchen; combines classic White Paint New River Wellington cabinetry and White Galaxy Granite counter tops to design a traditional kitchen. White subway tile is used to create a back-splash; finishes in the space included a Maxim Chandelier, glass-front cabinets and elegant hardware that lends a vintage feel. This clean, crisp, bright kitchen was designed for cooking and eating. This kitchen’s wooden floor ground the room and is a durable choice that keeps up with the hardworking, calm space. The rich, dark table and chairs is a feast for the eyes in this dining room and adjoining kitchen. It’s cleverly balanced with large areas of white while the stainless choices sprinkled throughout keep it all current.

We met with and received estimates from several companies while planning our full kitchen remodel, but ultimately chose RJK due to their record of quality work, integrity, and overall expertise in kitchen remodels in the Northern VA area. Before we knew it, work was underway and we were receiving nightly updates from our project manager. It is never fun to have your house under construction, but every evening when we returned home from work, the house was cleaned up and as tidy as possible. The workers were very respectful of us, our schedules, our home, and even our two dogs that barked at them every morning! The few bumps that we encountered along the road were addressed and/or corrected in a timely fashion with little or no impact to the overall cost and schedule. Rob, Suzanne, Victoria, our project manager, CJ, and the subcontractors were a pleasure to work with. RJK took on a HUGE job (see pictures) and delivered the finest quality result you can find. We have an old home that will require many future upgrades and RJK will certainly be at the top of our list to call!
