The young couple that owns this home needed more storage and a place to entertain their friends. This kitchen features black pearl granite countertops, Bertch Marketplace Cabinetry, and modern stainless steel appliances.

A obstacle in this home was to maintain the original floor plan, as we kept the original flooring in the kitchen area to maintain continuity on the first floor. That meant that the island had to remain in the exact location, and any walls removed had to be replaced with something. In our case, this meant cabinetry. We removed the small wall next to the sink area, and added a tall cabinetry that included a double wall oven, french door refrigerator, and a spacious pantry cabinet with roll outs. To further open up this kitchen, we removed a bulkhead that made the kitchen feel enclosed.
The island is definitely a feature in this kitchen. With an overhang on two sides of the granite, a large number of guests can sit and keep the cook company. A Jenn-Air hood contributes to the modern feel, with a glass canopy. Echoing the hood, are two pendants lights on either side, also with glass globes. A feature found to the left of the side door is a matching landing space for keys or coffee. The two cabinets also are topped with black pearl granite.
The unique faucet that you see in this kitchen is the Kohler Karbon Faucet in the finish Carbon Fiber. The Brand says, “With five pivoting joints, the Karbon articulating faucet offers total range of motion, putting water exactly where you need it.” This faucet is not only a statement, but an extremely convenient aspect of this remodel.
