Customer’s request: “R.J.K was involved in two separate projects. The first was to turn a never used “sitting room” or living room into a media room. This included changing out the cheap 1960’s wrought iron railing to a beautiful oak and iron banister which led from the main level up to the room, adding pre-finished hardwood floor steps and flooring, new ceiling and wall lighting, a wall to wall custom built bookcase with glass shelves and lighting in the display cabinets. The second project included breaking down a wall between a small room and a cramped galley kitchen. I wanted a larger eat-in kitchen that gave me more storage space and more work space. I also wanted a gathering place for people and a place where I didn’t feel so closed off from my company. The kitchen was a full remodel—new cabinets, granite countertops, appliances, sink, lighting, and flooring. However, I wanted a really “WOW” kitchen so I made some additions. I had always wanted a fireplace in the kitchen so we added a beautiful propane fireplace that was installed in the middle of the wall. In addition, I added a window seat below two large casement windows which had pull-out drawers for storage and two lovely stained glass stationary windows on both sides of the 2 casement windows”.
Project Results
Is a central hub for entertaining and family gathering, the fireplace creates a warm and inviting focal point. With the jointing wall between the kitchen and formal living room removed, this allowed for a grand island for both the cook range, warming tray, ample space for a eating area and a abundance of storage on all four sides. The warm fireplace and one of kind custom tile surround services as double duty for both a stunning focal point to the kitchen and a heater for the space on cold evenings.
This one of a kind kitchen allows the home owner to utilize their space, whither entertaining for a party of 20 or hosting a family gathering or maybe just relaxing with a cup of coffee on the charming inviting window bench seat.

The first project was completed to our utmost satisfaction. The carpentry work on the wall to wall cabinet was very professional. While there was a bump or two along the way, Rob, the owner, bent over backwards to make sure we were happy. He is a contractor like no other. Perhaps it's only fair when talking about this firm to first discuss all the others that wasted almost 3 years of my life. In total, I contacted about 18 firms. Some would show up, only to never call me back with a bid, a big waste of my time. Others decided the jobs weren't big enough so they inflated the price to a ridiculous level. He seemed to know exactly what we wanted and came up with some terrific ideas. I sensed he was excited about our projects, something that was lacking from all the other contractors we had dealt with. When someone is spending what my husband and I thought was a sizable amount of money, I wanted to see some enthusiasm in our projects. I can tell you Rob, Suzanne-- his wife, and the rest of the crew at RJK did not disappoint! I really don't even know where to begin because everything was done on such a high level. From the constant phone call and email communications with Christina and Dawn, to helping me with product selections and keeping within our budget with Suzanne, to providing me with valuable shopping guidelines when searching for cabinets, granite, backsplashes, flooring and fireplaces with Rob, to the workmanship provided by their plumbing and electrical crew and project managers Jason and Leroy, everything was A+++. Rob and Suzanne and their crew work tirelessly. I know because the employees never seem to go home. Working long hours and then in the office first thing the next day. It is a company that does everything the right way and has very high expectations of their work crew--something we appreciated. My husband and I were not surprised to learn that this company never advertises; their business comes from recommendations and repeat business. They have upgraded our home to a whole new level and have transformed two areas that were rarely used into sought after comfortable wonderful retreats!! The "oohs and aahs" we receive over and over when people enter our home is wonderful to hear and my husband keeps telling me "this isn't just a kitchen, it's a work of art!."
