To incorporate the long hallway with the small master bathroom to create a larger private space. For these Fairfax County Residents the Primary Goal was creating a more functional space to allow for maximized storage space and entertaining guest without crowding the chefs work space.
French Villa vacation, the design elements are both functional and beautiful in the kitchen. The abundant cabinets and drawers keep the space clutter-free, and the major fixtures and faucets are clean and simple yet decorative. The open kitchen invites interaction between guests and the cook. A smart layout aids maneuverability, while large windows at the end allow natural sunlight to pour in, reducing the need for constant artificial lighting. Granite counter tops and stainless steel sinks in the kitchen were chosen for their durability. The simple back splash acts as a boarder to highlight the custom design center piece above the stove. The kitchen functions like a family room, so company will not feel like they were sitting next to an appliance. The cabinets verging highs adds an architectural dimension to the room. The glass hutch allows the owners to display their Decorative stemware.
Rob and Suzanne Kalmin are wonderful; they are very good at what they do and are a pleasure to work with. They both care tremendously about the quality of their work (and their crew's work) and I never once doubted if there was a small bump in the road that they wouldn't correct it. We had done a lot of research and read the horror stories of projects gone awry, crooked contractors, and poor quality work - none of this came into play with RJK. They are a reputable remodeling firm doing high quality work and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company or use them again.
